A High-Tech Installation for Lesotho Communications Authority: Seamless Integration Across Borders

Techmin’s expertise is not confined to South Africa alone. In fact, our work frequently takes us across borders, and one such standout project was a comprehensive audiovisual installation completed for the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA). As a vital regulatory institution in the Kingdom of Lesotho, LCA needed a state-of-the-art multimedia and communication setup to enhance their conferencing capabilities, both for internal collaboration and engagement with international partners.

This project involved the design and installation of an integrated system comprising a projector and motorized screen, an audio system, and a full-featured video conferencing solution. The primary goal was to create a seamless environment that supports modern communications while maintaining clean aesthetics in the boardroom space.

Overcoming Architectural Challenges at Lesotho Communications Authority

One of the standout aspects of this installation for Lesotho Communications Authority was the necessity to work around specific architectural features of the facility. The room selected for the installation had a large window precisely where the motorized projection screen was to be mounted. This posed a unique challenge since traditional wall mounting was not feasible.

To overcome this, we devised an innovative mounting solution that allowed the motorized screen to be suspended securely without obstructing the window or compromising on visual quality. This careful planning ensured the screen could descend smoothly in front of the window when in use and retract completely out of the way when not needed, preserving both functionality and the natural light from the window.

Further integration work involved recessing the projector into the existing bulkhead structure. This decision served dual purposes—it maintained a sleek visual profile for the room and kept the projector secure and out of direct sight lines, reducing distractions during presentations.

Custom Video Conferencing Solutions for Lesotho Communications Authority

A key feature of the system installed at Lesotho Communications Authority was the custom-built video conferencing setup. Recognizing that a one-size-fits-all approach wouldn’t meet the specific needs of the LCA team, we designed a custom video conferencing camera stand that sits neatly below the projection screen.

This stand was tailored to both the height of the screen and the camera’s ideal eye-line position for seated attendees, ensuring that video calls maintain a professional and well-framed visual presentation. The placement was also optimized to avoid camera obstruction, whether the screen was in use or retracted.

The conferencing system itself is compatible with major platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and others, offering the LCA team flexibility to connect with stakeholders globally, without the stress of technical glitches or compatibility concerns.

Cable Management and Aesthetic Considerations

Every aspect of this installation was completed with close attention to aesthetics. A major concern in any modern boardroom or presentation environment is the visibility of cables and equipment. At Lesotho Communications Authority, all signal and power cables were run neatly through ceilings, behind walls, and under floors where necessary. The result is a clean, professional environment free from the clutter of visible wires or unsightly tech hardware.

Even access panels and service points were chosen and installed with subtlety in mind, ensuring that technical functionality does not disrupt the visual flow of the room. Every detail was aligned with the LCA’s desire for a space that is as visually refined as it is technologically capable.

The Final Result: A boardroom that deliver high-definition projection, crystal clear audio and reliable video conferencing.

The team’s combined expertise ensured that the system was not only expertly installed but also finely tuned for real-world usage. Testing and training were included as part of the project’s final handover, enabling LCA staff to use the system confidently from day one.

The final result was a boardroom that delivers high-definition projection, crystal-clear audio, and reliable video conferencing—all in a compact, user-friendly setup. For Lesotho Communications Authority, this installation represents a significant upgrade in communication infrastructure, further empowering them to carry out their national regulatory duties with precision and professionalism.
