Delivering Excellence Again at Menlyn Learning Hub: A Trusted Partner for Studio Cabling

There’s something deeply rewarding about being called back by a satisfied client. It speaks to the trust built over time, the quality of work delivered, and the value added through attention to detail and technical expertise. Our long-standing relationship with SAE Institute is a case in point. Having previously completed three studio installations for them—two in Johannesburg and one in Cape Town—we were pleased to be commissioned once again, this time for their new facility at the Menlyn Learning Hub.

One of the key collaborators on this project was Sonor Audio, who were also responsible for the acoustic treatment of the Cape Town studio. Their experience and deep understanding of studio environments ensured that the acoustic performance of the new space would meet the professional standards required by SAE. Their treatment included wall panels, bass traps, and ceiling clouds tailored specifically to the room’s dimensions and intended use.

As is the case with most of our high-end studio work, we relied on our trusted components to deliver superior signal quality and reliability. We installed Mogami multi-channel cable for audio runs, providing exceptional noise rejection and signal fidelity across all connections. For monitoring systems, we used Helukabel cables, chosen for their durability and consistency. All terminations were completed using industry-standard Neutrik and Amphenol connectors, known for their reliability, ease of installation, and robust design.

Building for the Future: Menlyn Learning Hub as a Replicated but Unique Studio

While the instruction was to mirror the layout and functionality of the Cape Town facility, no two buildings are exactly the same. The architectural differences at the Menlyn Learning Hub required us to be both creative and precise in our approach to cabling and infrastructure layout. Routes for cable trays, penetration points between control rooms and live rooms, and even rack space had to be adapted to suit the new environment.

The goal, however, remained the same: to deliver a studio environment that supports world-class training in audio engineering, music production, and content creation. Every cable, connector, and system was installed with the end-user in mind—students and educators who will rely on the space daily for hands-on learning and production.

What sets this project apart is not only its technical rigor but the seamless collaboration between all involved—from architects and acoustic consultants to installation technicians and facility management. This coordination ensured that the facility was delivered on time and within expectations, without compromising on quality.
