Church Installation

Expanding AV Capabilities for NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente’s Community Spaces

As part of a broader initiative to modernize its audiovisual infrastructure, NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente sought to enhance its facilities to better accommodate growing congregational needs. The church identified a key requirement: the ability to use one of its auxiliary rooms as a multi-purpose space. This room needed to function seamlessly as an overflow area during services, a dedicated mothers’ room, and an instructional space for Bible school classes and meetings.

To meet these diverse needs, Techmin was brought on board to design and install a flexible, easy-to-use audiovisual system that would support both live feeds from the main sanctuary and independent use for various gatherings.

Real-Time Audio and Video Transmission from the Sanctuary

At the heart of the project was the installation of a camera system within the main church. This camera captures live footage of the service, delivering it to the auxiliary room through an IP-based video signal. By transmitting the feed over IP, NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente benefits from a high-quality, low-latency video stream that can be reliably distributed across the facility.

In addition to the video, a dedicated audio signal was also run from the sanctuary to the auxiliary room. This ensures that congregants or attendees in the overflow or mothers’ room experience both sound and visuals in real-time, maintaining a strong sense of connection to the service even when they are not physically present in the main auditorium.

Whether it’s a Sunday service or a special midweek event, this system allows the church to extend its message to every corner of its facility, ensuring no one is left out of the worship experience.

Flexible Source Switching for Diverse Uses

One of the key challenges addressed during the installation was the need for versatile content control. While streaming from the sanctuary was the primary function, the auxiliary room also needed the capability to run its own independent content for Bible studies, leadership meetings, or other community activities.

To accomplish this, a switchable source system was installed. Users can easily toggle between the live church feed and an HDMI input located conveniently near the display in the room. This HDMI port enables the connection of laptops, media players, or teaching devices, turning the space into a flexible teaching and meeting venue when not used for overflow.

This level of control empowers staff and volunteers to make full use of the space, whether they’re broadcasting live services or running a small-group training session.

Supporting the Broader Mission of NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente

The AV expansion project aligns with the mission of NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente to provide an inclusive and connected environment for its members. By enabling the use of technology in meaningful and accessible ways, the church strengthens its ability to reach individuals and families at various life stages and in varying needs.

The creation of a dedicated mothers’ room, for instance, allows parents with young children to still participate in worship without concern for disruption. At the same time, the Bible school can run independently, making use of the same AV infrastructure without interfering with Sunday programming.

This project is one of several undertaken at the church, forming part of an ongoing relationship focused on equipping the congregation with modern tools for ministry. Each installation—whether simple or complex—is designed with a commitment to clarity, ease of use, and visual discretion.

A Seamless and Aesthetic Integration

Great care was taken to ensure that all cables and devices were installed with minimal impact on the room’s aesthetics. Signal cables were routed through ceilings and walls, leaving no unsightly clutter. The camera in the sanctuary was mounted in a discreet location, and the flat-panel display in the auxiliary room was installed at an optimal viewing height for seated and standing attendees alike.

As a result, NG Kerk Aan Die Berg Gemeente now enjoys a clean, professional AV setup that blends into the environment while delivering powerful functionality. Whether for worship, study, or support, this space is now fully equipped to meet the evolving needs of the church community.
