ConXion Productions

ConXion Production Studios in Centurion, South Africa, is a recording studio with Dolby Atmos mastering facility. Not only does it have multi live room recording facility, but it provides mastering capability for music and film in Dolby Atmos. The control room has a 9.1.4 surround configuration, with PMC active speakers as the left-right-centre-sub speakers and passive for surround. Processing is done through Metric Halo ULN-8 mkIV. The control surface is a Neve Genesys Black console. All units and inputs converge on Redco Patch Bays. Our custom made brackets for the surround speakers blend into the studio’s esthetics.

We have made use of high quality shielded CAT6 cable for our “analog-over-CAT6” system. This way, if the client wants to change over to digital or audio over IP, the cabling is ready for it.

The live room also have SDI camera points to facilitate live audio and video recording, for broadcast or streaming.

The main live room doubles up as a cinema. This cinema can be used for viewing material with a 185″ Grandview acoustically transparent screen, an Epson 4K laser projector and Dolby Atmos sound with a 7.1.4 speaker configuration. The left-right-centre-sub speakers are behind the screen. The cinema sound is connected via MADI to the control room. This means that any project being mastered in the control room, can be viewed by the producers in the cinema. This way they can get the full effect of the production being worked on.

Adding some esthetic value, we installed controlable LED strips in the live rooms and control room. This has quite mood setting effect.

The Studio was designed and project managed by Benjamin Pro Audio and the acoustic treatment done by TMB Acoustics.
